On May 7th 2009, the Quebec Premier, Mr. Jean Charest along with the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr Yves Bolduc, announced a 44 million dollar investment for a new Emergency and Hyperbaric department at the CHAU Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis.

In 1997, the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CSST) put in place an expert comity in charge of reviewing the rules and regulations for professional diving in Québec. This comity met on several times during the past 10 years and proposed new rules and regulations which were finally adopted in 2007.

In 2007, the CMPQ worked closely with the CSST, Direction régionale Bas Saint Laurent, and the Rimouski IMQ to organize a symposium on commercial diving. A similar event was held in 1999 but, to the disappointment of many, it was never repeated.

Great news for divers in Quebec, especially for those in the area of Les Escoumins. The Centre de santé et des services sociaux de la Haute-Côte-Nord recently purchased a Hyperlite hyperbaric stretcher, which has been operational since May 2008.
