The FQAS annual general assembly took place at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal on November 27th 2010. The FQAS was also offering 2 continuous training sessions of 2 hours to all its members present. The CMPQ was invited to participate in those training sessions. We presented on the rapid neurological evaluation of a stricken diver and also the treatment procedures in a hyperbaric stretcher. The rapid neurological evaluation is a very important part of the diver’s evaluation. The observed signs and symptoms during the evaluation can determine the outcome and the speed of the treatment in order to return the diver to a normal lifestyle. Many brochures and posters regarding the presentation were distributed. The coordinator also presented on the hyperbaric stretcher and a treatment simulation. The instructors that were present appreciated the demonstration and were amazed by the simplicity and the speed of the intervention. Moreover, the coordinator explained to those present that the next goal was to implement a hyperbaric stretcher in the Gaspésie area by the summer of 2011. Many instructors showed great enthusiasm towards this project. The coordinator emphasised that in order for such a project to take place, the subaquatic community could make some financial contributions to this project. He continues by saying that there is presently a second hand hyperbaric stretcher available at a very good price. The coordinator assures everyone that this stretcher still meets all required international and national hyperbaric standards. The CMPQ and FQAS are proud to participate in the acquisition and are confident that it will be in place by 2011.
