In 2007, the CMPQ worked closely with the CSST, Direction régionale Bas Saint Laurent, and the Rimouski IMQ to organize a symposium on commercial diving.  A similar event was held in 1999 but, to the disappointment of many, it was never repeated.

An organizing committee (CMPQ coordinator, two CSST representatives, and two members of the IMQ) was formed. This committee met on several occasions during the past year in order to make this event possible. The symposium was held in Rimouski, on February 20 to 22, 2008. It was a tremendous success, and over 200 participants attended the event. It is was agreed that it should be made into a national event, and return every 5 years.
