Pneumothorax

Pneumothorax is frequently accompanied by chest pains, bloody sputum, and/or bloody cough. Shallow, rapid breathing, increased pulse rate, cyanosis, and/or subcutaneous emphysema may also be present. The pneumothorax may be detected by auscultating both sides of the chest. Breath sounds will be weak or inaudible in the affected area.
